Student pranks prof - sweet!

A student buries the lyrics of the infamous "Rickroll" in a term paper. Awesome!

Be sure to read the comments - especially you, teachers!

I did two similar things. In high school, for a paper about Leonardo da Vinci's "mirror writing," I wrote the paper in mirror writing. (Yes, that was when we turned in hand-written papers. No, I'm not as old as Da Vinci.) Got an A - teacher used a mirror to read it.

In college, in a class called "16th Century Non-Dramatic Literature" (seriously) I wrote my final exam entirely in limerick form. Got an A. Prof was as bored as I was, apparently.

FaceTime comes to the Mac

Buried in the news reports coming from Apple's "Back to the Mac" announcements of new MacBook Air models and a preview of Lion and iLife '11 is word that FaceTime is now available for the Mac in Public Beta.

Install is simple, and FaceTime integrates with your Address Book contacts to make calling easy.

Of course, the first person I called was... ME!

The significance of course is that the desktop for Mac client effectively quadruples the number of FaceTime-ready devices, as all iMacs, MacBooks, MacBook Airs, etc. running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.4 or later) potential clients.

Pandora find of the week - Tinsley Ellis Live: Highwayman

Live! Highwayman

I was about to recommend a brand new collaboration between Elton John and Leon Russell, "The Union," released Oct 19 2010 on the Mercury label, and then, at lunch, on Pandora up pops an 8-minute burning blues guitar live performance of "Real Bad Way" by Atlanta songwriter-bluesman Tinsley Ellis.

Ooooh, baby! Straight to iTunes for a download of "Highwayman" (2005, Alligator Records) to the iPhone. If you dig blues-rock, guitar, Hammond B3 and electric bass, get this album. At least get the track. You owe it to your ears. Goosebumps!
